Odisha's Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania announced that 77 Maoists have surrendered to police in the state between January 2025 and March 2025. He also noted that 23 Maoists from Odisha surrendered in Chhattisgarh during the same period, and 27 Maoists were killed in encounters with security forces.
Odisha DGP YB Khurania has directed police officers to expedite the execution of non-bailable warrants against offenders and invoke the stringent National Security Act against habitual criminals. The directions were issued during a virtual review meeting on law and order.
In separate petitions submitted to the Odisha police, both parties alleged that the victim approached multiple police stations -- Puri Ghat, Sadar, and Barang --before her FIR was accepted by the Badambadi police station.
According to an order issued by the director general of police YB Khurania on Wednesday the five police personnel have been suspended on charge of gross misconduct.
